Hand-Knotted Chinese Carved Wool Area Rug with Longevity Symbols
Item Details
A hand-knotted Chinese carved wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of apricot, sepia, ivory, cornsilk, and clementine. The sculpted apricot colored field features fret medallions framed in a floral and foliate motif wreath, with lotus blooms and vines in each corner serving as the spandrels. Framing the field is a main Kangxi fret medallion, bracket, and blossom patterned border, along with a crenelated guard border, and pearl patterned minor borders. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a cotton kilim skirt with a fine cotton warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
