Hand-Knotted Chinese Carved Wool Area Rug with Longevity Symbols
Item Details
A hand-knotted Chinese carved wool area rug. It is worked in a palette of sky blue, ivory, brick, indigo and gold. It features a central circular longevity symbol medallion filled with flowers and a floral arrangement at each end. The corner spandrels are infilled with quatrefoil pendants in gold. The field is framed by a crenelated designed guard border and a main border having Chinese longevity symbols and floral vines, framed by a Kangxi fret band. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with a cotton kilim skirt and long cotton fringe at either end. It is unlabeled.
