Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Malayer Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A vintage hand-knotted Persian Malayer area rug. This wool pile rug is offered with a serrated eight pointed star diamond medallion to the center field. The remaining field is heavily populated with stylized herati patterns in abrash tones of onyx, ivory, tawny, rose, ecru, grey and watermelon. Framing the field are back to back serrated patterns with ivory grounded spandrels and large palmette pendants. The rug borders include floral meanders and herati designs in the field colors. Selvedges are overcast, finishing with natural wool warp fringe at either end. It is labeled with a tag to the verso indicating country of origin.
