Vintage Hand-Knotted Persian Senneh Bijar Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Senneh Bijar area rug. This wool rug is rendered in a palette of cream, blush, taupe, rose, celadon and sapphire. It begins with a fringed diamond medallion grounded in cream and outlined in sapphire, with pendants at top and bottom. The medallion rests on a field latticed with tiny pendant medallions in cream over pale taupe, with rose and celadon accents. Spandrels are grounded in sapphire, filled with rosettes and abstract motifs. Framing the field are two borders, each featuring meander patterns, over cinnamon or dark taupe. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe. A label on the reverse reads ‘Made in Iran.’
