Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Heriz wool area rug. The rug has been rendered in an abrash palette of scarlet, robin’s egg blue, dove gray, indigo, coral, pink, clementine, peach, wine, and ivory. The large central medallion has a rectilinear pendant element surrounded by lobed flowers, stylized leaves, and geometric motifs. The scarlet field features a scattering of lobed flowers in different color combinations as well as small spandrels with carnation and palmette motifs. The border incorporates serrate guard bands with a primary border infilled with lobed floral and geometric designs. The selvedges have been overcast and there is short fringe at each end. A temporary tag indicating the country of origin is affixed to the underside.
