A vibrant and intimate figural showing the colorful interior of a potter’s studio with two figures holding large ceramic vases. Signed lower left, ‘’Joyce Valpey’’ for Joyce S. Valpey-Smith (American, 1933-2011), a listed artist, and painted circa 1995. A member of the Marin Society of Artists and the Terra Linda Art Association, Valpey received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Academy of Art in Honolulu. Her work has been exhibited throughout the Monterey Bay Area, including at Venture Gallery.
