Mountain Landscape by Taki Tu, 1990's

Item Details

A bright and dynamic landscape showing amethyst tinted mountains rising above green woods and teal waters. Painted circa 1990 by Taki Tu (Taiwanese-American, b. 1928), a listed artist.
Tu’s watercolor painting is known for its gestural, wet-on-wet brushwork and robust palette, both of which are exemplified in this sensitive and lyrical work. Inspired by Cezanne and Van Gogh, Taki Tu received formal training at the University of California, Berkeley, and continued his studies in oil with Pam Glover and in watercolor with Charles Reid. Tu’s work has been the subject of numerous solo-exhibitions throughout the Bay Area as well as at the Carmel Art Festival (2003-2005, 2008-2009) and the San Luis Obispo Art Festival (2006-2007). In addition to painting, Tu was an accomplished medical practitioner and has over 30 published articles on his clinical research. Upon retirement, Tu held the title of Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCSF.
