An early 20th-century lithograph on paper titled The Great Ship by listed British artist Sir Frank Brangwyn (1867-1956). This work features a large ship bustling with crewmen and surrounded by cargo, depicted from a low perspective. The work is signed by hand in graphite to the lower right. It is presented in an antique black painted wood frame with gold-tone borders and carved motifs.

Known for his murals, etchings, illustrations, and decorative designs, Frank Brangwyn RA RWS RBA was born in Belgium and educated in London. He was trained under the tutelage of Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo and apprenticed with William Morris. In addition to book and magazine illustrations, some of his commissions include designs for Louis Comfort Tiffany, the exterior of Siegfried Bing’s Galerie L’Art Nouveau, and the concourse of the RCA building in New York City. His work has been exhibited at numerous prestigious institutions such as the Paris Salon, the British Museum, and the William Morris Gallery in London, among many others.
