Antique English Victorian Mahogany Davenport Desk

Item Details

An antique English Victorian mahogany davenport desk, circa 1870s. This rectangular top piece with gallery rails and beveled edges overhangs a scalloped frieze above five aligned storage compartments over six side by side, petite drawers. This portion of the desk slides into the unit. The piece features a slanted panel desk top with green leather inlay sliding open to an interior storage space. The lower base features a flame veneered front panel flanked by sloping stiles terminating in scroll embellishments. The right panel features four stacked drawers with turned knob handles. This piece terminates on casters. It is marked ‘The British Antique Dealers Association’.

- stains throughout; discoloration and fading to finish; nicks, scratches, and scuffs throughout; dust present; missing knob handle to one drawer.
