A signed Reverend William Franklin Graham Jr. (1918 – 2018) color photograph. Born in Charlotte, North Carolina, the popular American Christian evangelical leader was well known for being a spiritual adviser to American presidents starting with Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1953. The Southern Baptist minister hosted such shows as the Billy Graham Crusades starting in 1947 and the from 1950 until 1954 the radio show Hour of Decision. He was also the author of over fourteen books including Calling Youth to Christ, The Secret of Happiness and Where I Am: Heaven, Eternity, and Our Life Beyond the Now. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association was founded by Reverend Graham in 1950 and was headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. It would be relocated to Charlotte, North Carolina in 1999. Among his many honors are the Presidential Medal of Freedom awarded in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan and an honorary knighthood awarded by H.M., Queen Elizabeth II in 2001. The Reverend Graham is depicted wearing a blue suit, seated at a desk with his hand on an open Bible. It is signed with a black, fiber-tip marker and reads, ‘To the Olivia Raney Library/God Bless you/Billy Graham.’ The Olivia Raney Library is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. This autographed color photograph is presented in a gold-tone wooden frame with a black outer border under glass with a wire to the verso. The piece is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.
