Autograph Document Signed by Maryland Patriot Thomas Stone

An autograph document signed by Maryland patriot Thomas Stone (1743 – 1787). This document was penned by Thomas Stone, signer of the Declaration of Independence as a delegate for the state of Maryland who was born at Poynton Manor in Charles County, Maryland. He would pass the bar in 1764 and establish a practice in Frederick, Maryland. The year 1775 would see Stone sent as a delegate to the Continental Congress from the Annapolis Convention. Maryland’s Annapolis Convention forbade it’s delegates from supporting a drafting of a declaration of independence, yet despite this Stone voted in favor He served on the committee involved with the drafting of the Articles of Confederation and would go onto sign the Declaration of Independence. The document involves Marmaduke Simms and Ignatius and Eleanor Adams with all parties residing in Charles county, Maryland. It is noted that the document is signed to the verso as well. This handwritten document is presented beneath glass and black matting and encompassed by a black and gold tone frame with hanging wire affixed to its verso. ADS 1 page, 8vo. The piece is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.
