William Floyd Document Signed May 14, 1801

Item Details

A document signed by American Revolutionary Patriot William Floyd. Major General William Floyd of Brookhaven, New York, served in the Continental Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, later serving as a US Representative and Presidential Elector. In 1801, he signed this receipt for sixty-three dollars as ‘Wm. Floyd,’ with a pronounced flourish. The letter is presented in a black mat with a typewritten explanatory note, under glass in a black wooden frame with a gold-toned border and wire hanger to the verso. Albany, May 14, 1801. DS 1 page. The piece is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.
