Josiah Bartlett "Instructions for Payment" Document Signed January 9, 1769

A ‘instructions for payment’ document signed (inscription penned in the hand of the signee) by American Revolutionary Patriot Josiah Bartlett (1729–1795) of New Hampshire. In 1769, New Hampshire doctor Josiah Bartlett was serving as Justice of the Peace and Selectman of the town of Kingston, in which capacity he, along with William Sleeper, signed this note arranging for payment. Bartlett would later sign the Declaration of Independence in 1776, and later serve as Governor of New Hampshire from 1790 until 1794. The document is presented in a black mat, with a typewritten biography, under glass in a black wooden frame with a wire hanger to the verso. Kingston, January 9, 1769. Oblong 12 mo. The piece is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.
