Hand-Knotted Persian Luri Tribal Area Rug
Item Details
A Persian Luri tribal area rug. This wool rug is hand knotted in a palette of red, midnight blue, cream, teal and orange. It features a Qashqai-style herati pattern incorporating kaleidoscopically arranged, stylized palmettes, flowers, leaves, vines and diamonds over a red field. The field is framed by four borders, including a herati main border over midnight blue, an animal-head meander minor border over cream, a Hamadan minor border over cream, and a sawtooth outer border in orange and burgundy. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with twisted warp fringe made of wool and goat hair. Unlabeled.
