A steel silhouette sculpture with an acid-washed finish by artist Stephen Wakefield, titled Not So Small Pig. This piece depicts the animal in profile and includes a line of protruding rods toward its upper edge. The work has a loop for hanging to its verso and includes a label noting the materials, title and artist’s name.

Stephen Wakefield has been collecting found objects, primarily of metal and wood, his entire life. The self-taught artist began his professional artist’s journey when he was inspired by the metal collections housed at the Walters Art Museum in his native Baltimore. He was inspired to experiment with his vast inventory of finds gathered from Baltimore’s defunct historical buildings. Tin ceilings, commercial gears, chains, unique and ordinary metals along with wood of all sorts are transformed by Wakefield with stains, finishes, and patinas to create juxtapositions of color and form.
