Reproduction Brass Sculpture After Auguste Moreau "Friends"

A mid to late 20th-century reproduction sculpture in cast brass titled Friends, after a Belle Époque-era work by well-listed sculptor Auguste Moreau (French, 1834 – 1917). The piece depicts a boy in late 19th-century attire running with his dog as they play a game of fetch in an outdoor setting. The work features green patinated embellishments to the figure’s trousers. The sculpture is marked “Aug Moreau” in mold to one side. It rests on a round metal pedestal base which is attached to a round green marble base with beveled edge. A metal plate with the artist’s name and work title is affixed to the front of the marble base.

Item tested as 66.89% copper, 27.92% zinc and 1.24% iron.

Condition

- to fair; wear, nicks and marks to surface, particularly to feet; areas of discoloration and tarnish present; light accretion and dust present throughout; marks and scratches to base.
