An oil painting on canvas of a pastoral landscape by Albert Dunington (1860–1928). This work features a couple figures in a tranquil pastoral landscape, populated with a winding dirt path and some leafy trees; a small farm house is situated in the right middle-ground and a Medieval tower is visible near the river that is lined with rolling hills in the distant background. The work is signed ‘A. Dunington’ to the lower left. It is presented in a gilt and gesso frame with acanthus and laurel leaf moulding.
Condition
- varnish separation throughout entire painting; horizontal stretch marks near upper and lower edges of painting; small spots of accretion scattered throughout painting; mended puncture to central area of canvas, reinforced with patch to verso; small spots of chipping and paint loss scattered throughout painting, especially visible near lower edge; wear in frame includes large chips and cracks to moulding; stains, and finish loss scattered throughout frame.
