An oil painting on canvas of a rural landscape, attributed to listed artist Daniel Mackenzie (United Kingdom; 19th Century). This work features a single figure on a dirt path cutting through a tranquil grassy landscape populated with trees and architectural ruins in the middle-ground. The painting is signed ‘D. Mackenzie’ to the lower left. It is presented in a gilt and gesso frame with elaborate laurel and acanthus leaf moulding.

Condition

- small spots of overpainting scattered throughout composition; craquelure throughout composition; small spots of paint loss and small stains scattered throughout painting; wear in frame includes chips and cracks throughout moulding; stains and finish loss scattered throughout frame; frame is slightly separating at corners; inner frame liner is loose and needs securing in frame.
