Hand-Knotted Persian Qashqai Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Qashqai area rug. This contemporary tribal wool rug is rendered in a palette of garnet, cream, black, teal, gray and tangerine. It begins with a vertical row of three Qashqai medallions in stepped hexagonal frames. The medallions rest on a garnet-colored lozenge, which in turn rests on a black field. Corners contain oval shields amid flower and leaf motifs, elements that feature in the lozenge as well. The main border is grounded in cream and filled with alternating palmette/tree forms and oak leaves attached to abstract H-shaped motifs. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with gray wool warp fringe. Unlabeled.
