Item Details
An oil painting on canvas created in 1926 by artist John Bell. The maritime landscape piece depicts a group of early 20th-century sailing ships navigating choppy seas under a covering of blue skies and white clouds. The work is signed and dated in black paint to the lower left. It is presented without glass in a wooden frame with moulded accents and gold tone finish, fitted with hanging string to the verso.
Condition
- punctures to canvas near center left and top left; craquelure, surface wear, discoloration and marks throughout composition; chips, cracks, wear and scuffing to frame; no backing paper present.
