A 1909 oil painting on canvas signed ‘N.J.K.’. The piece depicts the portrait of a woman wearing a dark red dress with puffed sleeves and black ruffled embellishments, her hair arranged in traditional Scandinavian style of two braided side buns. The work is signed and dated in paint to the upper left. It is presented without glass in a wooden frame with gold tone finish, fitted with hanging string to the verso.
Condition
- dents to canvas at lower right and upper left; surface wear to canvas at edges; craquelure present throughout, most noticeably to lower right; inpainting to approximately 10% of surface; discoloration, stains and accretion to composition; chips, cracks, marks and surface wear throughout frame; no backing paper present.
