An early 20th century oil painting on canvas by listed artist Carl Ove Julian Lund (Danish, 1857 – 1936). The Impressionist-style piece depicts a country lane bordered with tall trees and lush spring foliage. The road leads to a winding stream in the distance, as sunlight illuminates parting storm clouds overhead. The work is signed ‘Carl O.J. Lund’ in black paint to the lower right. It is presented without glass in a gilt wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso. The frame is marked with a placard bearing the artist’s name, and the canvas verso includes a sheet with artist information in Danish.

Condition

- to fair; discoloration and minor wear to composition; no inpainting present; slight bubbling to canvas; crack to frame at upper left; chips, marks, wear and scratches to frame finish, with some loss to gilding; no backing paper present.
