A mid century oil painting on canvas by listed artist Ewald Petersen (Danish, born circa 1900). The Post Impressionist-style piece depicts a bucolic rural landscape scene, with rounded haystacks on green fields set against a backdrop of red-roofed buildings, deep green trees and clear blue skies. The work is signed ‘Ewald P.’ in black paint to the lower right. It is presented without glass in a wooden frame with grey and white finish, fitted with hanging string to the verso.

Condition

- to poor; small holes scattered throughout canvas; stretcher marks to edges; craquelure and surface wear throughout painting, with areas of chipping and media loss; discoloration, marks and stains to composition; scuffs, discoloration and surface wear to frame; no backing paper present; toning and wear to canvas verso.
