A 1934 ink and gouache mixed media illustration on paper. The piece depicts a mid-century Danish cityscape with construction workers laboring at a large building site to the foreground. The work is rendered in black lines against a tan ground, accented with a palette of blue, white, red, green and brown hues, and is signed in black ink to the lower center, appearing to read ‘Eilar 34’. The piece is matted in off-white and presented under glass in a wooden frame fitted with hanging string to the verso.
Condition
- to fair; discoloration to composition and mat; scuffs, nicks and edge wear to frame; glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; tears and stains to frame backing.
