A Yombe style carved wood mask from the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This piece presents almond shaped eyes and mouth with a triangular nose in a dark sienna finish against a lighter ocher ground. The figure also has a curved headdress, with round ears and holes drilled in the edges for hanging. There are no apparent maker’s marks.

Condition

- to fair; worn finish throughout with areas of loss; minor scratches to interior; some chips and edge wear.
