A mixed media illustration on paper titled The Pill, created in 1968 by artist Bruce G. Whipple. The piece is created with black ink and white gouache media over a halftone newspaper advertisement and depicts the partial portrait of a woman raising an index finger to her lips with a black gloved hand. The work is signed ‘Bruce G. Whipple’ in white ink to the lower right, titled in graphite to the matting and inscribed ‘B.G. Whipple, Oct ’68’ in graphite to the verso. It is matted and presented under plastic glazing in a wooden frame fitted with hanging wire.

Condition

- warping, discoloration and foxing to paper; smudges, discoloration and foxing throughout mat; scuffs, nicks, smudges and edge wear to frame; stains and wear to frame backing.
