1744 "Caii Julii Caesaris Quae Extant" in Two Volumes

A pair of 1744 parchment bound Caii Julii Caesaris Quae Extant (History of Julius Caesar). The antique two-volume set in Latin is tightly bound in ivory toned sheep skin with gilt on cover edges and marbling on page edges. Included are Volumes I and II, part of a larger series of educational books, numbered XV and XVI on the base of the spine. Included is a folding map in the front of each volume. The books were published in London by J. Brindley. Handwritten personalization and bookplates dating to 1756 and 1787, enhance the character of the set.
