Semi Antique Hand-Knotted Anatolian Wool Prayer Rug
Item Details
A semi antique hand-knotted Anatolian wool prayer rug. This area rug is rendered in a palette of terracotta, wheat, slate, crimson, black, sand, mauve, apricot, and silver. The field features a single stepped mihrab accented with buds, and finished with a hooked form, and it is infilled with terracotta, and mauve colors, and grounded with slate. The field also features a panel to each end with a serrated partial diamond and floral motifs. Framing the field is main border patterned in clusters of flowers in alternating colors to the motifs and to the ground. There is also a pair of crab style guard borders, and geometrically patterned minor borders. Finishing this rug are double overcast selvedges and a wool kilim skirt with warp fringe to the ends. Unlabeled.
