A mid-century gouache painting on paper by listed New York artist Cydney Grossman (born 1909). The piece depicts a ballerina tying her shoe backstage, wearing a costume that includes a floral hair garland, green bodice and sheer layered skirt, as another dancer stands next to a closed curtain in the distance. The work is signed “Cydney” to the lower left. It is presented under glass in a cream wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso. The frame backing is marked with a circa 1950s Barnes Fine Arts gallery sticker.
Condition
- slight toning and discoloration to paper; glass could be cleaned more thoroughly; light wear to frame finish; small tear to frame’s backing paper.
