A ‘list of legal cases’ document signed (all extra handwriting penned in the hand of the signee) by American Revolutionary Patriot Edward Rutledge. South Carolina lawyer Edward Rutledge (1749-1800) double-signed this list of his legal cases while practicing law in Charleston, South Carolina; two years later, at the age of 26, he became the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence, after which he was captured and held prisoner by the British for one year between 1780 and 1781. The list is presented along with a faded explanatory note in a black mat, under glass in a black wooden frame with a gold-toned border and a wire hanger to the verso. 1774. 1 page, oblong 8vo. The piece is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.
