Three Paul Chidlaw Acrylic on Paper Abstract Paintings

Item Details

A collection of three acrylic paintings on paper by well-listed American Abstract Expressionist Paul Chidlaw (Cincinnati, 1900 – 1989). The abstract paintings are rendered with bold, loose brushwork in a vibrant palette that contrasts with the white paper, creating dynamic compositions. These works are unsigned, and are marked to the verso with a stamp from the artist’s estate. They are presented without framing, awaiting your choice of presentation. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center.

Chidlaw was born in Cleves, Ohio and studied at both the Cincinnati Art Academy and L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Fontainebleau, France. He returned to Cincinnati where he then taught at the Art Academy mentoring many students. He was considered a pioneer of the Abstract movement, at the time, and he remains one of Cincinnati’s best-loved native artists. His artwork is displayed at the Cincinnati Art Museum and Xavier University.
