Patrick Heron was a well-known art critic and leading figure in British abstract painting. The artist drew inspiration from pioneering European modernists, including Paul Cézanne, Henri Matisse, Georges Braque and Pierre Bonnard. His figurative and non-figurative works were noted for their use of color and light. During his lifetime, the artist exhibited in multiple institutions including The Museum of Modern Art (Oxford, England) and the Tate Britain. Today, his works can be found in both private and public collections, including the Tate Britain.
