A circa 1980s hand-crafted tiger maple convertible trestle table with storage bench. The table is made of beautifully figured tiger maple. It has a rectangular plank-style, hinged tabletop with breadboard ends, featuring mortise and tenon construction, with square tenons in a darker colored wood. The trestle base is also made of tiger maple, and it forms a storage bench when the tabletop is lifted to the back, via a pair of turned wood handles on the underside of the tabletop. When the tabletop is placed behind the bench, the tabletop supports become the arms of the bench, and they are accented with carved scrolls. The bench seat is split and hinged, with two divided storage spaces within, and it rests on trestle legs. No maker’s marks.
