A large Indian Agra area rug. This wool rug is finely hand knotted in a variegated palette of onyx, camel, sage, cream and rose. It features an ornate herati pattern incorporating large palmettes, flowering vines and lancet leaves over an onyx field. The field is framed by six borders, including a wide herati main border grounded in camel, featuring palmettes, morning glories, wildflowers, split leaves and other foliage. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short mesh skirts and ivory wool warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
