Bill Schiffer 1986 Serigraphs of Silhouetted Pedestrians

Item Details

Paper
By the Artist’s Hand

A pair of limited edition serigraphs on paper created in 1986 by contemporary American artist Bill Schiffer (20th-21st centuries). Each piece depicts a group of multi-colored silhouetted figures walking to the perimeter of an abstract plane of black streets with small colorful accents, as silhouetted figures in black walk to the center. Each print is signed and dated in pencil to the lower right and inscribed ‘C.P.’ to the lower left; they are additionally numbered as 7 and 15 out of an edition of 18. The items are presented unmounted and unframed.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980s. Though he still works in many two-dimensional and three-dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
