A Federal-style Mount Vernon sideboard by Hickory Chair, after a 1797 John Aitken sideboard from George Washington’s Mt. Vernon estate. This beautiful, classic American sideboard is made of mahogany, with a bow-front top, concave side cabinets, and a center bow-front dovetailed drawer above a recessed two-door cabinet, and it rests on six straight, square tapered legs. The tops of the legs are accented with inlaid wood oval paterae with acorns and oak leaves, and the cabinets and drawers have brass bail handles with oval back plates and skeleton key holes. The interior of one drawer is labeled ‘Mount Vernon The Home of George Washington – Hickory Chair’. A key for the locks is included.
