Converted Brass Ship's Binnacle Compass Lamp

Item Details

A converted ship’s binnacle compass lamp in brass on a round walnut base. The brass housing features a glass front window with white painted interior, with carry ring to top, having an inner compass mounted on a nautical leveling support. There is a small chamber fixed to the side that houses a small, oil lamp and a plaque to the front with stamped serial and registration numbers, with additional stamped numbers to the housing ring around the glass front of the compass. ‘KK 39’ is impressed to the side of the housing. The curved brass stem of the lamp holds a single socket and harp with finial screw. Plaque to front reads ‘PATT— 18— B/R/58 No. 18856H R/C.O.S./YM’

Condition

- to fair for age and use; small light to highlight compass was not tested; main light powered on when tested; surface corrosion and scuffs and scratches.
