A contemporary carved sculpture in soapstone, similar to Shona pieces made in Zimbabwe. The work depicts a bearded male figure in traditional Southern African attire, carved into a piece of mottled brown soapstone with rough, natural edges to the sides and top. The piece is inscribed with incised markings to the underside; however, no clear artist attribution could be made.

Condition

- nicks, scuffs, scratches and dents throughout; minor dust and accretion present.
