1776 New Jersey One Shilling Signed by Revolutionary Patriot John Hart

A 1776 New Jersey one shilling Colonial Currency note signed by American Revolutionary Patriot John Hart. This one shilling note from the State of New Jersey bears the name and coat of arms of King George III and the date March 25, 1776. The note bears serial number ‘16948’ and signatures of Jonathan Johnston, John Hart, and John Stevens, Jr. Two months after the date shown on this note, Hart would be elected to the Second Continental Congress, voting in favor of and signing the Declaration of Independence on or about July 4, 1776. The note, along with a copy including explanatory text, is matted in black and presented behind glass within a black wooden frame with a gold-toned border and a wire hanger to the verso. Reference: Fr. NJ-175. The piece is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.
