Carter Braxton Financial Note Document Signed October 16, 1788

A financial note document signed (inscription penned in the hand of the signee) by American Revolutionary Patriot Carter Braxton. Virginia planter and conservative politician Carter Braxton (1736–1797) replaced Peyton Randolph for the Second Continental Congress and signed the Declaration of Independence in 1776, although he had previously opposed the concept. In 1788, Braxton wrote this document regarding financial arrangements, signing the note at the bottom right. The document is presented in a black mat, under glass in a black wooden frame with a gold-toned border and a sawtooth hanger to the verso. October 16, 1788. 1 page, oblong 8vo. The piece is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.
