A signed and inscribed photograph of Nobel Prize winning missionary and philanthropist Dr. Albert Schweitzer (1875–1965). This black and white photograph depicts Schweitzer, wearing a white shirt and pith helmet, in profile while seated in a canoe as an oarsmen pilots the boat from the bow; it is inscribed to the bottom margin, ‘A monsieur Leon Piene, avec mes bonnes pensées, Albert Schweitzer, 1965.’ (To Mr. Leon Piene, with my best wishes). The piece is mounted with a black mat in a black wooden frame with a gold-toned border. The piece is accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from James Spence Authentication.
