Miniature Shrines to Santo Niño de Atocha from Mexico

A collection of three miniature shrines to Santo Niño de Atocha. Each of these three hand-made miniatures consists of a wooden shrine with woodburned decoration, each containing a figurine of the Holy Infant of Atocha, dressed in robes with a flat-brimmed hat and carrying a basket, staff, and drinking gourd. Two miniatures bear the name ‘Plateros,’ referring to the Catholic Sanctuary of Plateros in Zacatecas in central Mexico, where the Holy Infant is venerated and where these three miniatures were made.

- largest item missing back panel and is chipped to front right corner; minor wear otherwise.
