An oil painting on canvas of a still life attributed to well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904 – 1997). Portrayed in a Post-Impressionistic manner with vibrant colors and distorted perspective, this work features a still life arrangement with a bowl, some paint brushes, and some fruit on a wood table partially covered with blue fabric. The work is unsigned and remains unframed.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Edgar Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.

- some paint loss and rubbing along composition edges; faint stains and accretion spots scattered throughout; small spots of paint loss and scratches scattered throughout painting.
