An oil painting on canvasboard by Massachusetts-based artist William Lester Stevens (1888 – 1969). This painting depicts an impressionistic rural landscape with autumnal foliage leading to what appears to be a small down in the distance. It is rendered with expressive brushstrokes which create a feeling of dynamism in this peaceful pastoral scene. This piece is signed ‘WM. L. Stevens NA’ to the lower right corner of the picture plane. This painting is presented in an ornate open wooden frame with a wire hanger to the verso.

- light wear to frame finish; light surface wear; light warping to board; staining to fabric liner.
