An oil painting on board titled Market Shopping by listed American artist John E. Poti (1927-2016). Portrayed in a post-impressionistic manner with vibrant colors and large expressive brushstrokes, this work features a couple figures walking along a dirt path in a rural town, with haystacks in the foreground. The painting is signed ‘J. Poti’ to the lower left; it is presented in a rustic brown wood frame with a protruding off-white painted sight edge. A descriptive label is attached to the verso along with a couple bios of the artist in an envelope.

Based in Cleveland, John Poti was born in Hungary and came to the United States as an infant. He attended classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art, earned his BFA at Ohio Wesleyan University, and later graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Known for his bucolic landscapes and genre scenes, his work can be found in various public and private collections.
