A watercolor painting on paper by listed American artist Carl Gaertner (1898-1952). This landscape painting depicts a gestural rendering of a woodland scene in the winter. Snow covers the forest floor around the trunks of leafless trees, low bushes and undergrowth. The work is signed by the artist in graphite in the lower right corner. It is presented under glass with an off-white mat in a simple wood frame. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso.

- to fair; toning and discoloration to paper and matting; scuffs, edge wear and nicks to frame; tears to frame’s backing paper.
