A relief print on paper titled Pakaka Nalu by Dietrich Varez. This relief print is by contemporary German-born and Hawaii-based artist and printmaker Dietrich Varez (born 1939). It depicts a stylized scene with graphic imagery of traditionally styled Hawaiian boatmen paddling along with a large wave. This piece is signed ‘Dietrich Varez 1991’ to the lower right margin and titled ‘Pakaka Nalu’ to the lower left. This piece is presented in a wooden frame, under glass, with a wire hanger to the verso.
