An oil painting on board of an agricultural landscape by listed American artist John E. Poti (1927-2016). Portrayed with loose impressionistic brushstrokes and vibrant yellows, greens, and blues, this work features a fenced field of crops in the foreground. Some farmhouses situated in the middle-ground are surrounded by trees and grassy fields that extend into the distance. The composition is signed ‘J. Poti’ to the lower right; it is presented in a rustic brown wood frame with a protruding white painted sight edge. The artist’s business card and a short statement are attached to the verso.

Based in Cleveland, John Poti was born in Hungary and came to the United States as an infant. He attended classes at the Cleveland Museum of Art, earned his BFA at Ohio Wesleyan University, and later graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Art. Known for his bucolic landscapes and genre scenes, his work can be found in various public and private collections.

- some accretion spots and stains scattered throughout painting, especially visible in sky; chip present in upper central area of frame; small chips scattered throughout frame; small splits in frame wood, present to lower left of sight edge; minor scratches and stains scattered throughout frame.
