4' x 7' Fine Hand-Knotted Persian Zanjan Rug
Item Details
A fine hand-knotted Persian Zanjan rug. This wool rug is rendered in a markedly abrashed palette of coral, cream, cocoa, mauve and black. It features a layered design beginning with a small octagonal medallion nested in a stepped hexagonal lozenge, the two resting on a coral field with cream spandrels. Fillers include stylized herati palmettes, flowers, leaves, vines and muskas. The field is framed by three borders, containing boteh and geometric patterns. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short cotton warp fringe.
