Vintage Lockable Chinese Lacquer Flatware Chest

Item Details

A vintage lockable Chinese lacquer flatware chest. The piece features a black lacquer ground with lidded tops lined in red fabric and including holes for knives and a rack for other utensils. The lid is finished with a brass hasp to the front and is above four similar flatware drawers and a single cabinet fronted by a pair of doors finished with brass bails and handles. The top hasp and bottom handles are lockable with included padlocks and keys. The exterior of the piece is finished with hand-painted figures in raised relief and incised cloud details. It rests on four bracket feet.
